Boeing Employees' Musical Performance Club (BEMPC)
of ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI (est. 1998)

The halls are alive with the sound of music and that’s the way we like it!!!

The BEMPC is a club for Boeing employees, Boeing retirees, vendors, customers, contract and government personnel assigned full time to the Boeing Company, as well as their spouses and dependents, to make music. The club currently includes four active performing groups: a concert band, the Balladeers (choral), a jazz band, and a brass quintet. All voices and instrumental musicians of all ability levels are welcome. For more information on a performing group, please contact the appropriate person listed below, or drop by the rehearsal.

Concert Band

The Concert Band consists of about 25 woodwind, brass, and percussion musicians. Its repertiore includes standard concert band music: classical, show tunes, jazz, Dixieland, marches. The Concert Band has performed for company product roll-outs and at various city festivals and malls in the St. Louis area.

There are no auditions for the group and new musicians are always welcome on all parts.

Practices are normally held on Mondays at 4:30 in the Building 110A Cafeteria.


Balladeers

The Balladeers chorus includes a variety of vocalists, along with an accompanist on keyboard. They perform patriotic themes, as well as Broadway show medleys, appropriate holiday selections, and some jazz. They have led the singing of the National Anthem at the Leadership Association Day at the Cardinals game the last three years. They have also performed at various company functions.

There are no auditions for the group and new musicians are always welcome on all vocal parts.

Brass Quintet

The Brass Quintet generally performs with 5 players in the standard brass quintet instrumentation - 2 trumpets, a French horn, a trombone, and a tuba. Its style repertoire includes madrigals, classical, Dixieland, jazz, ragtime, opera, Broadway, and marches. They have performed for company product roll-out and award ceremonies, various city festivals in the St. Louis area, and at Boeing cafeterias.

Although we only have 5 parts, the group enjoys having more than one musician on each part. There are no auditions, and new musicians are always welcome!

Jazz Band

The Jazz Band generally includes 7-10 musicians. They play modern jazz as well as classics, however most songs are largely improvisational. The Jazz Band features trumpets, trombones, saxes, and a clarinetist backed by a rhythm section of drums, electric bass, and electric guitar.

There are no auditions, although the ability to improvise in a variety of jazz styles is recommended. New musicians are always welcome!
